Australia’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has recognised CPB Contractors as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE), awarding them an official citation.
The WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation is voluntary and designed to encourage, recognise and promote an employer’s active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces. The criteria for the citation cover leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration gaps, flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities, employee consultation, preventing sex based harassment and discrimination, and targets for improving gender equality outcomes.
CPB Contractors’ WGEA citation captured these focus areas and the action underway to realise gender balance. This includes the delivery of initiatives such as:
- Formalized targets, learning, and leadership programs
- Inclusive support covering parental, disability, elder care, and domestic violence
- A multi-pronged strategy to ensure pay equity and gender-balanced workplaces
- Ongoing efforts to drive positive change across the broader construction industry.
"Construction is a fantastic industry with huge opportunities to make a difference in people's lives,” said CPB Contractors Managing Director Jason Spears.
“We’re committed to providing safe, inclusive and diverse workplaces with equal career opportunities and to create a culture that recognises the unique value women bring to our business”.
WGEA’s Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Mary Wooldridge, explains that this citation formally recognises CPB Contractors’ efforts to tackle the deep-rooted causes of gender inequality in the workplace.
“The actions of CPB Contractors provide an example to others who may be wondering how they can start to address the systemic issues that limit both men and women from reaching their potential at work,” adds Mary.
CPB Contractors is committed to enabling gender equality across its operations and providing safe, inclusive and diverse workplaces with equal career opportunities and has developed an organisation-wide and project-based Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP). This gives the team an opportunity to review and develop its current diversity initiatives to ensure that they continue to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace for all employees.
CPB Contractors GEAP includes commitments, strategies and measures for actively progressing gender equality in the workplace.
