At Sedgman, we’re proud to celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise our colleagues that make our business and projects a success across Australia, China, Canada, South Africa and Chile.
Earlier this week Sedgman marked the occasion with our second annual ‘SedgWoman’ panel discussion and Q&A session. Cath Turner, Group Manager, Health Safety Security Environment and Quality and our gender equality executive sponsor, hosted and moderated the panel discussion joined by our panellists. It was great to hear the opinions and experiences of women from across diverse locations, cultures, and roles within Sedgman.
Our panellists provided great insights about the representation of women in the industry, their career progression, challenges they may have faced along the way and how we can all #ChoosetoChallenge to make an impact toward a more equal and enabled world.
We are keen to continue to encourage our people to #ChoosetoChallenge and raise awareness against bias and inequity by supporting our people and empowering them to do so.
One way our Sedgman team have done this is through the implementation of our first ‘Lean in Circles’ which commenced in August 2020. The circles provide a space and support circle for women in our business to lift each other up, hold each other accountable, and more importantly, help the group realise they are not alone in any challenge's life throws their way.
International Women’s Day is about collective action and shared responsibility, and we are proud of all our people for the actions they take to drive this.
