Daunia Coal Project
Sedgman was initially engaged to design and supply the 800t/h Daunia coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) as well as develop a scope of works and execution plan for the construction of the CHPP.
Prior to gaining site access and after design and procurement were completed, the project was suspended in 2009. A revised operating plan was approved in 2011 with modified mine infrastructure requirements which necessitated changes to the layout of the previously designed CHPP. Sedgman was re-engaged to complete the required design changes, supply the additional equipment, and construct the CHPP. In early 2013, the CHPP construction and commissioning was completed and overall operation transitioned to the owner.
Construction of the CPP leveraged on the “pancake” build methodology where large structural steel modules are preassembled on ground and lifted into place in larger sections. The CHPP was handed to the owner ahead of schedule with no lost time injuries (LTIs).
Sedgman has provided ongoing small improvements and optimisation works on site for the client.
